Orvieto

It may not be as green when you see it, but this is one of our favorite views from Orvieto's ramparts

Sunday, November 2
We head south with a two-night stop at the Locanda Rosati near the ancient Etruscan hilltop town of Orvieto. (Umbria) We take the scenic road to get there, stopping often to take pictures, have a coffee or just a walk. We get to Locanda Rosati around 4 - 4:30.

Many great family-style dinners have been enjoyed over the past 12 years at Locanda Rosati, where the atmosphere is like home and the food simple but delicious.

We eat here both nights. Dinner is served starting promptly at 8 p.m. Jim hopes for cool weather so that we can enjoy some time by the open fire before dinner, with wine!

Monday, November 3
Exploring the region including a ‘ghost village’ nearby and the wonderful town of Orvieto.

Civita and the wild landscape around it are part of a national park

Lunch at 1:30 at 'Da Carlo,' our favorite Osteria tucked away in a back lane of Orvieto. Be prepared to linger for a while.
